Walnut Springs is located just outside of downtown Johnson City, less than a half hour from Fredericksburg, and less than an hour from Austin and San Antonio.  New large scale commercial developments are planned in two nearby communities and four municipal golf courses and three Robert Trent Jones golf courses at Horseshoe Bay are located within 40 miles.  At the gateway to the Hill Country, Johnson City is just 3 hours drive from Dallas and less than four hours from Houston.

Johnson City is a burgeoning artists’ community, with a population of nearly 1,200 people. A quaint town and Lyndon B. Johnson's boyhood home, Johnson City is home to a handful of antique shops, art galleries, B&Bs and small restaurants.

Nearby Fredericksburg, Texas, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is also a short drive from Walnut Springs. Founded in 1846 by German settlers, its charm and heritage endure to this day. Fredericksburg, with an abundance of shops, museums, galleries, and fine restaurants, brings tourists from all fifty states and many foreign countries.

Weather in the Hill Country is generally temperate and cooler than the rest of Texas. The average annual temperature in Johnson City is 69° F. The growing season lasts 230 days, with prevailing winds from the southeast.
